Installation Procedure

1999 GMC Forward Control 5.7 R, AutomaticSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the muffler over the rear axle and towards the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Fig 1: Locating Exhaust Hanger Insulators

  3. Install the exhaust hanger insulators to the muffler.
  4. If the vehicle is equipped with AWD, use the utility stand to raise and install the crossmember. Refer to Crossmember Replacement in Frame and Underbody.

  6. Install a new catalytic converter gasket.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the catalytic converter bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the catalytic converter bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
