Installation Procedure
1999 GMC Forward Control 5.7 R, AutomaticSECTION Installation Procedure

- Install the exhaust manifold gasket.
- Install the exhaust manifold.
- Install the exhaust manifold nuts.
Tighten:Β Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
Tighten:Β Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (LA1)Β or Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (LY7)Β .
- Install the thermostat bypass pipe. Refer to Thermostat Bypass Pipes Replacement in Engine Cooling.
- Connect the inlet radiator hose to the engine. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet (LA1) or Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet (LY7) in Engine Cooling.
- Install the right engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Bracket Replacement - Right in Engine Mechanical - 3.4 L.
- Fill the cooling system with engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
- Install the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
