Removal Procedure

1999 GMC Forward Control 5.7 R, AutomaticSECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the headrest from the front seat. Refer to HEAD RESTRAINT REPLACEMENT - FRONT SEATΒ  .
  2. Place the front seat back to the full upright position.
  3. Remove the J-hook retainer at the bottom of the seat back cover.
  4. Remove the enough of the front seat cover to enlarge the opening for access to the front seat frame.

    Important:Β  The use of a small flat bladed tool as a lever under the top of the retainer will help in the removal of the headrest retainer.

  5. Reach carefully inside the front seat back between the seat back cover and the seat back pad and squeeze the bottom of the headrest retainer together, while pulling the headrest retainer upwards from the seat back frame.
  6. Remove the headrest retainer from the front seat back frame.
