Installation Procedure

- Tie the hood latch release cable to a wire or string. Feed the hood latch release cable through the grommet at the dash panel.
- Apply strip caulk sealer or equivalent to the grommet.
- Install the hood latch release cable to the hood release handle.
- Install the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement .
- Pull the carpet back.
- Install the hood latch release cable retainers to the engine compartment side rail retainers.
- Route the hood latch release cable through the radiator support.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to one of the following procedures:
- For 3.1L equipped models, refer to AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY .
- For 3.8L equipped models, refer to AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY .
- Install the front fender upper diagonal brace. Refer to Brace Replacement - Front Fender Upper Diagonal .
- Install the hood release cable to the hood latch.
- Install the left front headlamp. Refer to HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB AND/OR CORNERING, SIDEMARKER, PARK, TURN SIGNAL BULB REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the block from the hood latch.
- Inspect the hood latch for proper operation.
- Close the hood.
