Rear Disc Brake Backing Plate: Installation

  1. Install the park brake shoe and actuator onto the backing plate.
  2. Position the park brake shoe, actuator, and backing plate over the rear hub.
  3. Install the park brake cable bracket and the two retainers.
  4. NOTE: The rear hub, backing plate, park brake cable bracket, and park brake actuator will be installed as an assembly.
  5. Install the rear hub. See HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in REAR article in SUSPENSION.
  6. Install and connect the rear park brake cable to the bracket at the rear wheel. See PARK BRAKE CABLEΒ  .
  7. Connect the park brake cable return spring to the park brake actuator and bracket at the rear wheel.
  8. Install the rear rotor. See REAR BRAKE ROTORΒ  .
  9. Install the rear wheels and tires.
  10. Adjust the park brake at the equalizer. PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENTΒ  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
