Intake Manifold Runner Control Solenoid (3.0L): Removal

  1. Turn ignition off. Loosen battery hold down cover screws and remove battery cover. Disconnect Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) solenoid harness connector. Remove vacuum hose from bank 2 intake manifold runner diaphragm. Bank 1 are cylinders No. 1, 3 and 5 which are closest to the front of the dash.
  2. Remove clamp from power brake booster vacuum hose at intake manifold and remove vacuum hose. Remove IMRC solenoid attachment screw. See Figure . Remove both vacuum lines from IMRC solenoid and remove IMRC solenoid.
