Removal (Bank 1)

  1. Bank 1 is the cylinder head that is closest to the rear of engine compartment. Turn ignition off. Remove mounting the 2 mounting nuts from the injector sight shield (top engine cover). Lift the injector sight shield off the mounting studs by lifting at the front of the cover. Disconnect the Ignition Control Module (ICM) electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the AIR vent solenoid harness connector. Remove the bank 1 AIR shut-off valve. See SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SHUT-OFF VALVEΒ  under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS.
  3. Using the removal sequence, remove the ignition cassette retaining bolts. See Figure. Carefully remove the ignition cassette. Remove ignition coil(s) from ignition cassette as necessary.
