Removal (Bank 1)

  1. Bank 1 is the cylinder head that is closest to the rear of engine compartment. Turn ignition off. Remove the 2 mounting nuts from the injector sight shield (top engine cover). See Figure . Lift the sight shield from the front and pull forward to disengage the rear tab from the bracket. Disconnect the Ignition Control Module (ICM) electrical connector. See Figure .
  2. Disconnect the AIR vacuum control solenoid valve harness connector. See Figure . Remove the bank 1 AIR shut off valve. Using the removal sequence, remove the ignition cassette retaining bolts. See Figure . Carefully remove the ignition cassette. See Figure . Remove ignition coil(s) from ignition cassette as necessary.
