Ignition Switch

1999 GMC Forward Control 4.3 W, StandardSECTION Ignition Switch

Turn ignition off. Disconnect Natural, 5-pin connector C1, or Black 4-pin connector C2, located in steering column. Using DVOM, check for continuity between specified ignition switch terminals with ignition switch in appropriate position. See appropriate IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. See Fig 1. If continuity does not exist as indicated, replace ignition switch.

ACC C1/B (RED) & C1/E (BRN)
OFF (1)
RUN C1/B (RED) & C1/E (BRN); C1/B (RED) & C1/C (PNK); C2/B (RED) & C2/A (ORG)
START C1/B (RED) & C1/C (PNK); C1/B (RED) & C1/A (YEL)
(1) Continuity should not exist between any terminals.
IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST (MOTORHOME)

ACC C1/B (RED) & C1/E (BRN); C1/B (RED) & C1/C (PNK)
OFF (1)
RUN C1/B (RED) & C1/E (BRN); C1/B (RED) & C1/C (PNK); C2/B (RED) & C2/A (ORG)
START C1/B (RED) & C1/C (PNK); C1/B (RED) & C1/A (YEL); C2/B (RED) & C2/C (YEL/BLK L65 Only); C2/B (RED) & C2/D (LT BLU)
(1) Continuity should not exist between any terminals.
