Parking Brake System: Adjustments

1. Block front wheels, ensure brake pedal is fully released, then raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Loosen adjusting nut at rear cable equalizer until rear wheels spin freely and ensure cables do not bind or stick over operating range. On Pickup models with intermediate cable bracket, remove bracket before performing any parking brake adjustments.
3. Depress parking brake pedal 2 clicks on 2 wheel drive models or 3 clicks on 4 wheel drive models.
4. Tighten equalizer adjusting nut until rear wheels will not rotate forward without applying excessive force.
5. Loosen adjusting nut until moderate drag is felt when rotating wheels forward, ensuring drag at each wheel is approximately equal.
6. Reinstall cable guide, if removed, release parking brake pedal, and ensure little or no brake drag is felt when rotating rear wheels.
