Engine is identified by eighth character of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). VIN is stamped on a metal plate on top left end of instrument panel, near windshield. See ENGINE IDENTIFICATION CODESΒ  table. Engine is also identified by engine identification (ID) number, stamped on cylinder block in one of the following locations:

  • On right side of timing chain case casting.
  • On engine-to-transmission mating flange, near left cylinder head.
  • At left front of engine block, near cylinder head-to-block mating surface.
