  1. Install timing light with an adapter between No. 1 spark plug and No. 1 spark plug wire, or use an inductive type pickup. DO NOTΒ  puncture wire.
  2. Check or adjust ignition timing with engine at normal operating temperature, distributor advance line disconnected and plugged, and automatic transmission in "D" (if equipped). See Figure . Reconnect the vacuum line.
