Check 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. NOTE: If equipped.

    Remove the underbody shield bolts and remove the underbody shield.

  3. NOTE: If equipped.

    Remove the underbody shield bolts, the pin type retainers and remove the underbody shield.

  4. NOTE: If equipped.

  5. Remove the front differential fill plug.

  6. If draining is needed. Using a general equipment, remove as much fluid as possible from the PTU. Use the General Equipment: Fluid Suction Gun

  7. Check and top off the differential with clean differential gear lubricant. The differential gear lubricant level should be within 3mm (0.118 in.) from the fluid level fill plug opening. Install the differential fill plug.

  8. Install the front differential fill plug.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  9. NOTE: If equipped.

    Install the underbody shield and underbody shield bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
