2022 Ford Escape S, 4WDSECTION Pinpoint Test Purpose

To verify PSCM DTC P160C is present and provide diagnostics if DTC P160C is currently active in the PSCM.

  1. W1: CHECK FOR OVERHEATING DTC 
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Clear the PSCM DTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut off.
    • Start the vehicle.
      • Make sure the engine ready indicator is illuminated for hybrid vehicles.

    Carry out the PSCM self-test.

    • Is DTC P160C:xx present and active in the PSCM? 
    Yes No
    INSTALL a new EPAS gear.
    REFER to the Power Steering article.
    ORDER a replacement EPAS gear and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
    If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.
    INCLUDE the tie rods and boots with the steering gear. SHIP the steering gear in the original box and packing foams to prevent steering gear damage. REFER to GSBs for return shipping packaging instructions.
    If the PSCM does not list DTC P160C, DISCONTINUE this test and REFER to the DTC Chart for direction.
