DTC DESCRIPTION P2617 - CRANKSHAFT POSITION OUTPUT CIRCUIT/OPEN

Description:  This DTC sets when PCM detects that the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor bias voltage is less than the calibrated minimum or greater than the calibrated maximum calculated threshold.
Possible Causes: 
  • CKP+ circuit open
  • CKP+ circuit intermittent open
  • CKP- circuit open
  • CKP- circuit intermittent open
  • CKP+ circuit short to voltage
  • CKP+ circuit intermittent short to voltage
  • CKP- circuit short to voltage
  • CKP- circuit intermittent short to voltage
  • CKP+ circuit short to ground
  • CKP+ circuit intermittent short to ground
  • CKP- circuit short to ground
  • CKP- circuit intermittent short to ground
  • CKP sensor incorrectly installed
  • Damaged CKP sensor
