Power Transfer Unit Input Shaft Seal RH: Removal

2021 Ford Edge SE, 4WDSECTION Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview
  2. Remove the intermediate shaft. Refer to: Intermediate Shaft
  3. Position the tool on top of the seal. Use Special Service Tool: 308-973 Remover, PTU Input Sleeve.

  4. NOTE: Make sure piercing tool stops on the sleeve tool for proper piercing of the seal.

    Using the tool, pierce the seal. Use Special Service Tool: 308-973 Remover, PTU Input Sleeve., 308-777 Remover and Installer, PTU Input Shaft Seal.

  5. Install the screws and tighten until the tool firmly attaches to the seal. Use Special Service Tool: 308-973 Remover, PTU Input Sleeve.

  6. NOTE: Make sure piercing tool stops on the sleeve tool for proper piercing of the seal.

  7. Install the screws and tighten until the tool firmly attaches to the seal. Use Special Service Tool: 308-973 Remover, PTU Input Sleeve.

  8. Using the tool, remove the seal. Use Special Service Tool: 100-001 (T50T-100-A) Slide Hammer.
