Engine Mount LH: Installation

  1. Clean the engine mount-to-cylinder block and engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.
  2. NOTE: If necessary, the following 4 steps are to install the LH engine mount insulator-to-cylinder block bracket.

    Install the LH engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket and install the new bolts in the sequence shown.

    Torque: 55 lb.ft (75 Nm)

  3. Attach the generator wiring harness retainer to the engine block.

  6. NOTE: Replace the nut plate with part number W716699-S439.

    If removed, install a new engine mount-to-frame nut plate.

  7. Clean the engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.

  8. Install the LH engine mount.

  10. Hand start the new engine mount-to-frame bolts. Do not torque at this time.

    • Using the adjustable stand, lower the engine to the installed position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

    • Remove the stand.

  11. Position the stabilizer bar and install the new nuts.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

  12. NOTE: Use care when positioning the front axle housing or the vacuum lines to the axle solenoid may become disconnected or damaged.

    Using an adjustable stand, raise the front axle carrier into position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  13. NOTE: It may be necessary to reposition the axle assembly to prevent interference with the steering components when installing the bolt.

    Install the new upper front axle carrier mounting bushing nut and the bolt finger tight.

  16. Tighten the axle shaft housing carrier bushing bolt.

  17. Tighten the upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

  19. Install the steering gear boot.

    1. Position back the steering column shaft U-joint to the steering gear.
    2. WARNING: Install a new steering column shaft bolt. Reuse could result in bolt failure and loss of vehicle control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

      Install a new steering column shaft bolt.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  20. Remove the holding device from the steering wheel.

  21. NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the engine mount-to-frame bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-frame nut plate can occur.

    Torque the LH engine mount-to-frame bolts in the sequence shown.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  22. Lower the engine to the installed position.
  23. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install the new LH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque: 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  24. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install the new RH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque: 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  25. Position the wire harness back and install the retainers.

  27. Install the wire harness pin-type retainer, position back the A/C compressor and install the bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    • Position the wire harness and shield back and install the bolt.

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

    • Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

  29. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

    Remove and discard the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts. Install new transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

    Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  30. Position the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe and install the bolts.

    Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  31. Install the new RH catalytic converter-to-turbocharger nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  33. If equipped, install the front driveshaft. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .
  34. If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • If equipped, install the underbody shield and the bolts.

      Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • Install the pin-type retainers.

    • If equipped, install the transmission housing cover and attach the retainer.

    • Install the bolts.

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  35. Install the CACintake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
    • Insert the engine appearance cover into the rear support.

    • Install the engine appearance cover retainers.

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  36. Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
