Valve Train Analysis - Engine Off, Valve Cover Removed 

NOTE: The following component inspection is used to diagnose valve train concerns.
  1. Remove the valve covers.For additional information, refer to: Valve Cover LH . and For additional information, refer to: Valve Cover RH .
  2. Check for damaged or severely worn parts and correct assembly. Make sure correct parts are used with the static engine analysis as follows.

    Visual Inspection Chart 

    Mechanical
    Check for plugged oil drain back holes.
    Check for worn or damaged valve tips.
    Check for damaged roller followers.
    Check for worn or damaged camshafts.
