Front Brake Pads: Installation
2021 Ford Edge SE, 4WDSECTION Installation

NOTE: Clips should sit flat against the bracket with the retraction leg loop toward the outside of bracket.
- Install all clips with retraction leg loop toward outside of bracket. Center the abutment clips over the bracket recess.
- Start to install the clip from the top rail.
- Install the clip over the lower abutment.
- Apply pressure with fingers to fully seat the clip against bracket.

- Install the brake pads at a downward angle to the caliper without touching the edge of the abutment clip.
- Compress the spring leg of the clip with the bottom of the pad at the abutment surface and rotate the top of the pad into position.
NOTE: Below steps are required when guide rods do not move freely. - Clean the anchor plate bore using the specified material.
Material
: Motorcraft® Metal Brake Parts Cleaner / PM-4-A, PM-4-B
- Fill the anchor plate bore with the grease supplied in service kit.

- Install the guide rod boots onto the guide rods.
- Make sure that the lip of the boot should be seated in the groove of the guide rod.
- Orient and push guide rod all the way into caliper anchor plate bore.
- Rotate the guide rod to grease the complete surface. Pull the guide rod back and forth to remove the excess grease.

NOTE: Make sure to position guide rod flat parallel with the caliper anchor plate flats.

NOTE: Make sure that the brake hose is not twisted when installing the brake caliper or damage to the brake flexible hose may occur.
Install the brake caliper while squeezing the brake pads against the rotor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Deactivate the brake service mode. Refer to: Brake Service Mode Activation and Deactivation .
- Apply the brake pedal several times to verify correct brake system operation.
