Steering Gear Boot: Removal

2021 Ford Edge SE, 4WDSECTION Removal

  1. Remove the tie rod end. Refer to: Tie Rod EndΒ .
  2. NOTE: Count and record the number of turns required to remove the outer tie-rod end jamb nut for reference during installation.

    Remove the tie-rod end jamb nut.

  3. Remove the front engine undershield. Refer to: Engine Front Undershield .
    1. Remove and discard the outer steering gear boot clamp.
    2. Remove and discard the inner steering gear boot clamp.

  4. NOTE: If servicing the RH (right-hand) tie rod, both bellows boots must be removed.

    Remove the bellows boot.
