DTC Trigger
This DTC sets if PSCM detects the vehicle data configuration or the component base data configuration is missing or incomplete.
Pinpoint Test Purpose
To verify PSCM U2300 is present and provide diagnostics if DTC U2300 is currently present and active in the PSCM.
- AB1: CHECK VEHICLE HISTORY
- Check the vehicle history for recent service actions related to the:
- BCM
- PSCM
- Steering gear
- Steering column
- Electronic steering actuator (if equipped)
- Have there been any recent service actions related to the components listed above?
Yes No REPEAT the PMI procedure as directed by the diagnostic scan tool or CONFIGURE the module using vehicle as-built data. Go to AB2. - Check the vehicle history for recent service actions related to the:
- AB2: VERIFY THE PSCM DTC
- Clear the PSCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut off.
- Start the vehicle.
- Make sure the engine ready indicator is illuminated.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Does DTC U2300:xx return?
- AB3: VERIFY PSCM CONFIGURATION
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, configure the PSCM. Refer to the Module Configuration article.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut off.
- Start the vehicle.
- Make sure the engine ready indicator is illuminated.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Does DTC U2300:xx return?
Yes No INSTALL a new EPAS steering column.
REFER to the Steering Column article. ORDER a replacement EPAS column and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.The condition causing the DTC is not present at this time. - AB4: VERIFY BCM CONFIGURATION
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, configure the BCM. Refer to the A01247388 article.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut off.
- Start the vehicle.
- Make sure the engine ready indicator is illuminated.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Does DTC U2300:xx return?
Yes No Check OASIS for any applicable TSB s, GSB s, SSM s or FSAs.
If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions.
If no service articles exist, RETRIEVE and DIAGNOSE all BCM DTCs. REFER to the Multifunction Electronic Modules article.The condition causing the DTC is not present at this time.
