Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor: Notes

2021 Ford Edge SE, 4WDSECTION Notes
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2022 Ford F-550 Super Duty, 2022 Ford F-450 Super Duty, 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty, 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty, and 2021 Ford F-550 Super Duty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The EOT sensor is a thermistor device in which resistance changes with temperature. The electrical resistance of a thermistor decreases as the temperature increases, and resistance increases as the temperature decreases. The varying resistance affects the voltage drop across the sensor terminals and provides electrical signals to the PCM corresponding to temperature. The PCM uses the EOT sensor input to calculate fuel quantity and injection timing.

The F-150 does not have an EOT sensor. For all others except F-Series Super Duty, the EOT sensor is located at the rear of the engine on the oil filter adapter.
