Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The tow-haul or sport switch is used to activate and deactivate the selectable drive mode feature. When the driver presses the tow-haul switch, the TCM (3.0L and 3.5L) or PCM (2.7L, 3.3L and 5.0L) receives a voltage signal from the switch. The TCM or PCM sends a drive mode message to the GWM over the HS-CAN 1 and the GWM relays this message to the ABS module over the HS-CAN 2. The ABS module takes the necessary action depending on the switch inputs and the selectable drive mode message.Β
The tow-haul switch is part of the transmission shift lever.Β
| DTC | Description | Fault Setting Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| P05D3:86 | Driver Mode Select Switch 'A' Range/Performance: Signal Invalid | This DTC sets if the selectable drive mode switch message sent from the TCM or PCM indicates the switch has been pressed for longer than 30 seconds. This can be caused by a short to ground on the selectable drive mode switch circuit, if there is an internal failure of the selectable drive mode switch or an internal failure of the TCM or PCM. |
