Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
During a traction control event, the ABS module sends a torque request message to the PCM. The PCM responds by reducing engine torque to aid in preventing drive wheel slip. If the PCM does not receive the message or the requested amount of torque is outside programmed parameters, this DTC is set in the PCM. The PCM only monitors for a torque request message during a wheel slip event.Β

|---|---|---|
| P1637 | CAN Link ECM/ABS Control Module Circuit/Network | If, during a traction control event, the PCM does not recieve the ABS module engine torque reduction request or if the if the torque requested is outside programmed parameter, this DTC sets in the PCM. |
