Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ABS module monitors various inputs and compares the values to what should be expected. If the values received are out of range or not what should be expected, the ABS module sets a DTC.
- AK1: CARRY OUT THE ABS MODULE/HCU CALIBRATION
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Inlet Valve Calibration and then the Master Cylinder Isolation
- Calibration.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table currently active and present in the ABS module?
Yes No Go to AK2. The systems is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete calibration. - AK2: CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Inlet Valve Calibration and then the Master Cylinder Isolation Calibration.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table currently active and present in the ABS module?
Yes No INSTALL a new ABS module.
CHECK OASIS for any service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA.
If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions.
If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control article.
ORDER a replacement ABS module and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.The systems is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete calibration. - AK3: CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Inlet Valve Calibration and then the Master Cylinder Isolation Calibration.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table currently active and present in the ABS module?
Yes No INSTALL a new HCU.
CHECK OASIS for any service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA.
If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions.
If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new ABS module and HCU assembly. REFER to the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control article.
ORDER a replacement ABS module and HCU assembly. INCLUDE the RVC form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.The systems is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete calibration.
