Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

The SASM requires an operating voltage between 8 and 17 volts. The SASM receives fused ignition voltage from the BCM run-start bus and fused battery voltage from the BJB. The SASM has a single ground circuit. The SASM sets this DTC if there is excessive resistance or an open in one or more of these circuits, a discharged battery or an inoperative charging system.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
U3003:1C Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Out of Range This DTC sets in continuous memory if the voltage supplied to the SASM is below 8 volts for more than one-half second.

Possible Causes 

  • Fuses
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • SASM-clockspring assembly

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks 

  • Make sure the vehicle battery terminals and cables are free of any corrosion and other contaminants.
  • Make sure the vehicle battery terminals are tightened to their correct torque specifications.
  • Make sure BJB fuse 45 (60A) is OK.
  • Make sure BCM fuse 20 (7.5A) is OK.
