Driveshaft Center Bearing: Disassembly

Center bearings with a slip yoke 

  1. Remove the slip yoke. Refer to: Driveshaft Slip Yoke .

    Center bearings with a U-joint flange 

  2. Remove the driveshaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft .
  3. Separate the driveshaft center bearing flange and slip yoke.

    1. Index mark the center bearing flange and driveshaft slip yoke.
    2. Remove and discard the U-joint strap bolts and straps
    3. Separate the slip yoke from the center bearing flange.

  4. Remove the center bearing U-joint flange nut.

    Torque: 425 lb.ft (576 Nm)

  5. Remove the center bearing U-joint flange and washer.

    All vehicles 

  6. Remove the center bearing. Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press

  7. Clean the center bearing mating surface.
