P246E - EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT (BANK 1 SENSOR 4)

Description:  The PCM monitors the operation of the exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 4 (EGT14) to determine if the EGT14 sensor responds to the increase in temperature of the exhaust gas, during vehicle operation. The PCM then compares the measured temperature to a modeled value. This DTC sets when, after 5 minutes of driving, following a 6 hour soak, the EGT14 sensor temperature does not correlate to the modeled temperature of 110°C (230° F).
Possible Causes:
  • Exhaust leaks
  • Excessive particulate matter build up on sensor
  • Damaged EGT14 sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  Monitor the EGT14 PID between ignition ON, engine OFF and ignition ON, engine running for an indication of a concern.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
All GO to PINPOINT TEST RC .
