P2031 - EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT BANK 1 SENSOR 2

Description:  The PCM monitors the operation of the exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 2 (EGT12) to determine if the EGT12 sensor responds to the increase in temperature of the exhaust gas, during vehicle operation. The PCM then compares the measured temperature to a modeled value. This DTC sets when, after 5 minutes of driving, following a 6 hour soak, the EGT12 sensor temperature does not correlate to the modeled temperature of 150°C (302° F).
Possible Causes:
  • Exhaust leaks
  • Excessive soot or ash build up on sensor
  • Damaged EGT12 sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  Monitor the EGT12 PID between ignition ON, engine OFF and ignition ON, engine running for an indication of a concern.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
All GO to PINPOINT TEST RC .
