P1408 - EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) FLOW OUT OF SELF-TEST RANGE

Description:  This DTC sets when the exhaust pressure (EP) sensor value is above or below the calibrated level when the EGR valve is commanded open during the key ON, engine running (KOER) self-test.
Possible Causes:
  • Aftermarket intake systems or exhaust systems
  • Intake air system restriction
  • Exhaust system restriction
  • Restricted EGR cooler
  • EGR valve position sensor bias
  • EP sensor bias
  • Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor bias
  • Damaged EGR valve
Diagnostic Aids:  Use the output state control function of the scan tool and monitor the EGRVP PID while commanding the EGR valve OPEN. If EGR flow is introduced into the engine at idle, the RPM will drop or the engine will stall.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
All GO to PINPOINT TEST W .
