Cooling Module: Removal
2021 Ford Edge SE, 4WDSECTION Removal

- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and BleedingΒ .
- Evacuate the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
- Remove the headlamp assemblies. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly .

- All Vehicles. Disconnect the horn electrical connector.
- Vehicles Equipped With Hood Ajar Switch. Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Vehicles Not Equipped With Hood Ajar Switch. Detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Vehicles With Park Aid Camera. Detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Detach the pin-type retainer, release the clips and position the washer fluid hose aside.
- Remove the bolts, push-pins and the radiator grille bracket.
Torque:
Stage 1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
Stage 2: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

- Mark the hood latch.
- Remove the bolts, detach the retainer and position the hood latch aside.
Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

- Detach the cable from the mounting bracket.
- Disconnect the hood latch release cable end.
- Detach the pin type retainers from the front end bolster and position the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the push-pins and the LH air deflector.
- Remove the condenser inlet, outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings.
Torque: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
- Remove the transmission cooler tube secondary latches and detach the clip.

NOTE: Failure to cap the openings for the transmission cooler tubes may result in siphoning of the transmission fluid. This may result in damage to the transmission, if the transmission fluid is not checked and filled after the repair is completed.
