Pinpoint Tests Z: Intermittent: Introduction

2021 Ford Edge SE, 4WDSECTION Introduction

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose and isolate intermittent concerns for all electronic engine control (EEC) subsystems.

This chart is used to determine which test to run for the suspect circuit. Parameter identifiers (PIDs) corresponding to each circuit are listed. Some circuits do not have an associated PID or the PID may not be available and has to be measured with a digital multimeter (DMM). More specific information on the PID can be found in Reference Values.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • β€’ You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • β€’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • β€’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • β€’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • β€’ You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
