Axle Assembly: Removal

2018 Ford Transit-150 XLT, 3.5L Eng VIN GSECTION Removal
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the rear wheels and tires. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  2. NOTE: Right side shown left side similar.

    Remove the wheel speed sensor bolts and position the wheel speed sensors aside.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  3. NOTE: Right side shown left side similar.

    Remove and discard the anchor plate bolts, position and support the calipers aside.

    Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

    1. Mark the driveshaft and pinion flange for reassembly.
    2. Remove and discard the driveshaft to pinion flange bolts.

      Torque: 76 lb.ft (103 Nm)

    3. Position and support the driveshaft aside.

  4. NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.

    If equipped Remove and discard the pinion nose damper bolts and remove the pinion nose damper.

    Torque: 46 lb.ft (62 Nm)

  5. Remove and discard the rear stabilizer bar bracket bolts and position the rear stabilizer bar aside.

    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)

  6. Remove the brake line bracket bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  7. Remove and discard the vent hose retainer, and position aside the rear axle housing vent hose.

  8. NOTE: Make sure the axle assembly vent tube and elbow is not damaged or blocked.
