The PCM limits the engine RPM by cutting off fuel whenever the engine RPM limit is detected. The purpose of the engine RPM limiter is to prevent damage to the powertrain. The RPM limit for the F-150 is 4, 600 RPM. The RPM limit for the F-650/F-750 and F-Series Super Duty is 3, 800 RPM. The RPM limit for the Transit is 4, 500 RPM.

The vehicle speed limit for the:

  • F-150 pickup is 169 km/h (106 mph).
  • F-250 and F-350 pickup is 153 km/h (95 mph).
  • F-450 pickup is 140 km/h (87 mph).
  • F-350, F-450 and F-550 narrow frame vehicle is 130 km/h (81 mph).
  • F-650/F-750 is 120 km/h (75 mph).
  • Transit is 156 km/h (97 mph).
