Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Normal Operation
The PSCM runs a self test when the ignition is set to ON and the module is receiving at least 6 volts. The self test compares the software in the module to the steering gear hardware. If the 2 items are not compatible, the EPAS enters manual mode and sends a request to the IPC message center to alert the vehicle occupants and sends an EPAS_FAILURE message to other modules on the HS-CAN.
This test generates a RVC for a new PSCM when directed to do so from pinpoint test. A RVC is required to order a new PSCM and to document billing for payment.
