Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Normal Operation
- DTC B1251:00 (Tire Pressure Sensor Low Battery: No Sub Type Information)- sets when there is a fault in the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), such as a damaged or missing TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor(s), or when attempting to train a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor(s) with a low battery. The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator flashes for 70 seconds and then remains on continuously when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, and the message center displays TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT.
Training the sensors detects any TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors with batteries low enough so that the sensor won't transmit tire pressure data, these sensors won't train.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor(s)
PINPOINT TEST H : DTC B1251:00
H1 TRAIN THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS TO DETERMINE THE INOPERATIVE SENSOR
- NOTE: Verify the horn operation before starting the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) training procedure. If it does not operate correctly, refer to Horn Train all 4 tire pressure sensors. Refer to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training.
Did all of the tire pressure sensors transmit correctly and did the horn sound when each TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor transmitted to the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) module?
Yes
CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. VERIFY system operation.
No
GO to H2.
H2 CARRY OUT THE SENSOR TRAINING PROCEDURE
- Move the vehicle to rotate the wheels at least one-fourth of a turn. Leave the vehicle doors open.
- Train all 4 tire pressure sensors. Refer to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training.
Did all of the tire pressure sensors transmit correctly and did the horn sound when each TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor transmitted to the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) module?
Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST for normal operation. REFER to PID (Parameter Identification) definitions and intermittent troubleshooting for information on locating sources of RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) Principles Of Operation.
No
INSTALL a new TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor(s). REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Overhaul. TEST the system for normal operation.
