Exhaust Downpipe - 2.3L: Removal

2009 Ford Ranger 2D Pickup, 2.3 D, AutomaticSECTION Removal
NOTE: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. These lubricants may cause deterioration of the rubber. This can lead to separation of the isolator from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the 2 exhaust downpipe-to-muffler and tail pipe assembly bolts, 2 flange nuts and gasket.
    • Discard the flange nuts and gasket.
  4. Remove the 2 exhaust downpipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts.
    • Discard the nuts.

  5. Remove the transmission mount and isolator-to-transmission bolt and remove the exhaust downpipe.
