Engine Front Cover: Removal

2009 Ford Edge Sport, FWDSECTION Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Remove the engine cooling fan. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  4. Remove the RH valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER - RHΒ .
  5. Remove the LH valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER - LHΒ .
  6. Rotate the tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.

  7. Remove the nut and the starter wiring harness support bracket.

  8. Remove the bolt and the accessory drive idler pulley.
  9. Remove the 3 bolts and the accessory drive belt tensioner.
  10. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and washer.
    • Discard the crankshaft pulley bolt.
  11. Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft pulley.

  12. Using the special tool, remove and discard the crankshaft front seal.

  13. Remove the 3 bolts and position the power steering pump assembly aside.
  14. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
