Timing Drive Components: Removal

2007 Ford Fusion SEL, 2.3 Z, StandardSECTION Removal

  1. Remove the engine front cover. For additional information, refer to Engine Front CoverΒ  in this article.
  2. Remove the camshaft synchronizer drive gear.
    • Remove the bolt.
    • Remove the camshaft synchronizer drive gear.

  3. Rotate the crankshaft until the timing marks and keyways align.

  4. Compress and install a retaining pin to hold the timing chain tensioner.

  5. Remove the camshaft sprocket, the crankshaft sprocket and the timing chain as an assembly.

  6. Remove the bolts and the timing chain tensioner.
