Exploded View

Removal and Installation

All vehicles
1. Remove the steering wheel.
2. Remove the steering column multi-function switch.
3. Remove the instrument cluster.
4. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
5. Remove the cowl trim panels.
6. From behind the cowl trim panels, disconnect the electrical connectors.







7. Remove the lower instrument panel insulator.
8. Remove the front floor console.
9. Remove the floor shifter.

Five Hundred, Montego
10. Remove the 2 instrument panel center finish panel screws.

All vehicles
11. Remove the instrument panel center finish panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.

12. Remove the 2 audio unit screws.
13. Remove the audio unit.
- Disconnect the audio unit electrical connectors and the antenna cable.

14. Detach the instrument panel side panels.
15. Remove the A-pillar trim panels.
16. Remove the steering column cover.
17. Position the hood release handle aside.
- Remove the 2 screws and position the handle aside.

18. Remove the headlamp switch.
19. Remove the glove compartment door.
- Disengage the glove compartment dampener from the keyway.
- Remove the glove compartment door.

Freestyle
20. Remove the passenger side air bag.







21. Remove the passenger assist handle.
- Through the glove compartment opening, remove the 3 screws.

Five Hundred, Montego
22. Reposition the passenger side air bag.
1 Through the glove compartment opening, remove the 6 passenger side air bag nuts.
2 Reposition the passenger side air bag.

23. Detach the cross-vehicle panel.
- Disconnect the PAD indicator electrical connector.

All vehicles
24. Disconnect the LH side main wiring harness electrical connectors.

CAUTION: To avoid damaging the instrument panel upper section, this step requires the help of an assistant. Do not bend or crimp the instrument panel upper section upon removal.

25. Remove the instrument panel upper section.
- Remove the 8 screws.
- Remove 1 screw from each side at the upper portion of the panel.
- Remove 3 screws from each side at the lower portion of the panel and remove the instrument panel upper section.

26. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
