System Airflow Description: Defrost

2007 Ford Escape Base, 2.3 Z, FWD, AutomaticSECTION Defrost
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

When DEFROST is selected:

  • The air inlet mode door, with no vacuum being applied, allows outside air.
  • The defrost air inlet mode door is in the no vacuum position, directing the airflow to the windshield through the defroster ducts and to the side windows through the demister ducts.
  • The panel air inlet mode door and the floor mode door are in the no vacuum position so that most of the incoming air is directed to the windshield defroster hose nozzle. There is also airflow to the side window demister and hose.
  • The temperature control setting can be adjusted.
  • The PCM enables the A/C compressor only when the gasoline engine is running.
  • The blower motor is ON.
