NOTE: Conduct Steps 1 through 7 outlined in Inspection and Verification prior to performing this test.
  1. C1 CHECK THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: PID/DATA Monitor and Record
    • Monitor the throttle position (TP) sensor while pressing down and releasing the accelerator pedal.
    • Does the throttle position agree with the accelerator pedal position? 
    1. YES  : The system is operating correctly at this time. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. NO  : REFER to INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE ENGINES or INTRODUCTION -- HYBRID ENGINES article for further diagnosis to the electronic engine controls.
