Removal and Installation
2007 Ford Escape Base, 2.3 Z, FWD, AutomaticSECTION Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY .
- Remove the LH quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to DRAINING .
- Remove the LH rear wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove the LH rear wheel opening splash shield.
- Release the auxiliary heater inlet hose clamp and disconnect the auxiliary heater inlet hose.
- Release the auxiliary heater outlet hose clamp and disconnect the auxiliary heater outlet hose.
- Remove the auxiliary evaporator outlet line fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
- To install, tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb-in).
- Remove the auxiliary evaporator inlet line fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
- To install, tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb-in).
- Remove the 2 floorpan bracket nuts.
- To install, tighten to 3 N.m (27 lb-in).
- Remove the 2 auxiliary duct pin-type retainers and detach the auxiliary ducts.
- Disconnect the 2 auxiliary climate control housing electrical connectors.
- Detach the auxiliary blower motor relay pin-type retainer(s).
- Remove the 3 auxiliary climate control housing bolts.
- To install, tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb-in).
- Remove the auxiliary climate control housing.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to REFRIGERANT OIL ADDING .
- Fill the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
