2007 Ford Escape Base, 2.3 Z, FWD, AutomaticSECTION Removal and Installation

WARNING: The traction battery and charging system contain high voltage components and wiring. High voltage insulated safety gloves and a face shield must be worn when carrying out any diagnostics on this vehicle. Failure to follow these instructions may result in severe personal injury or death.
  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  2. Depower the high voltage battery. For additional information, refer to HIGH-VOLTAGE TRACTION BATTERY SYSTEMS DEPOWERING .
  3. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. NOTE: When installing the accelerometer the electrical connector must face the driver seat.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  6. Remove the 2 accelerometer nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb-in).
  7. Remove the accelerometer.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
