Gearshift Cables: Removal
2007 Ford Escape Base, 2.3 Z, FWD, AutomaticSECTION Removal

- Remove the restraints control module (RCM). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
- Disconnect the gearshift cables from the transmission using the following procedure:NOTE: Both gearshift cables disconnect from the transmission in the same manner.
- Lift the gearshift cables out of the cable bracket.
- Disconnect the gearshift cables from the transaxle gearshift control assembly.
- Remove the 2 gearshift cable clips. SeeFig 1.
- Remove the 2 gearshift cable clips.
- Disconnect the 2 gearshift cables from the gearshift lever.
- Remove the 2 gearshift cable grommet nuts.
- Remove the gearshift cables.
