Removal And Installation: Fender: Installation

2007 Ford Escape Base, 2.3 Z, FWD, AutomaticSECTION Installation

  1. Position the fender.
  2. Install the fender rear inner bolt.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
  3. Install the 2 upper rear fender bolts.
    • Tighten to 43 Nm (32 lb-ft).
  4. Install the rear fender bolts.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
  5. Install the rear fender brace bolt.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
  6. Install the 2 rocker panel fender bolts.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
  7. Position the rocker panel moulding and install the pin-type retainer.
  8. CAUTION: The vehicle must be at the ride height when the front of the fender is attached. Failure to lower the vehicle will cause a misalignment between the radiator support and the fender.
  9. Install the 2 fender-to-radiator support bolts.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  10. Install the 2 lower front fender bolts.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  11. Install the fender lower brace bolt.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  12. Install the front fender bolt.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  13. Install the radiator grille opening panel front bolt.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  14. Install the radiator grille opening panel bolt.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  15. NOTE: The wire harness trough is only located on the LH fender.
  16. Position the wiring harness trough and hood latch release cable and install the 2 screws.
  17. Install the 2 ground wire bolts.
    • Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
  18. Install the fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to FENDER SPLASH SHIELD - LHΒ  or FENDER SPLASH SHIELD - RHΒ .
  19. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM .
  20. Install the front bumper cover. For additional information, refer to BUMPERS .
  21. NOTE: Two technicians are needed to carry out this step.
  22. Line up the hood with the marks on the hinges and install the 4 hood hinge-to-hood bolts.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
    • Align the hood as necessary.
  23. If equipped, install the wiring harness locators and connect the engine compartment lamp electrical connector.
  24. If equipped with an engine compartment lamp, position the hood insulation and install the pin-type retainers.
