Gearshift Lever: Removal

2007 Ford Escape Base, 2.3 Z, FWD, AutomaticSECTION Removal

  1. Remove the gearshift knob.
  2. Open the storage compartment door.
  3. Remove the floor console finish panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the LH floor console trim panel. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL & CONSOLE -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.

  5. Disconnect the shift cable and the select cable from the gearshift lever.

  6. NOTE: Carefully disconnect the gearshift cables from the gearshift lever base. Do not damage the gearshift cable retainers.
