Power Transfer Unit (PTU) - Automatic Transaxle:





1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Drain the power transfer unit (PTU).

4. CAUTION: A new PTU inner halfshaft seal must be installed whenever the intermediate shaft or PTU is removed from the vehicle.

Remove the front RH intermediate shaft.
5. Remove the driveshaft.
6. Remove the 4 bolts and the crossmember brace.





7. Remove the generator.
8. Remove the exhaust as required.
9. Remove the 3 PTU heat shield bolts and the PTU heat shield.
10. Remove the PTU-to-engine brace.
11. Disconnect the PTU vent hose and position it aside.
12. Remove the 4 PTU-to-transaxle bolts.
13. Remove the PTU.
