Cylinder Head
The cylinder head must not have depressions deeper than 0.0254 mm (0.001 inch) across a 38.1 mm (1.5 inch) square area, or scratches more than 0.0254 mm (0.001 inch).
Cylinder Head Bolts

The cylinder head bolts are torque-to-yield and must not be reused. New cylinder head bolts must be installed.
Lubricate the bolts with clean engine oil prior to installation.
First pass 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.)
Second pass 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
Third pass 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
Fourth pass tighten 90°
Final pass tighten 90°
Intake manifold bolts 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolts

First pass Tighten one turn at a time until finger tight
Second pass 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.)
Final pass 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.)
Camshaft sprocket bolts 72 Nm (53 ft. lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Nuts

Discard the 7 exhaust manifold nuts.
First pass 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
Final pass 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)

Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolts
First pass Tighten one turn at a time until finger tight
Second pass 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.)
Final pass 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.)
Camshaft sprocket bolts 72 Nm (53 ft. lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Nuts
Discard the 7 exhaust manifold nuts.
First pass 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
Final pass 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
