PINPOINT TEST A: THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR IS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY

A1:

A2-A4:

Normal Operation
During normal operation, the air bag warning indicator will illuminate continuously for 6 seconds after the ignition switch is placed in the RUN or ON position. Be sure to cycle the ignition switch and look for a 6-second indicator prove-out without diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). The restraints control module (RCM) will communicate to the instrument cluster module to turn the air bag warning indicator ON or OFF via the high-speed controller area network (HS-CAN). The RCM will also communicate over the HS-CAN DTCs to the scan tool through the data link connector (DLC).

Possible Causes
An air bag warning indicator that is illuminated continuously or no communication with the RCM can be caused by:
- a DTC.
- damaged wiring, terminals or connectors.
- damaged ignition circuit.
- RCM disconnected from the vehicle harness.
- a loss of RCM ground.
- loss of RCM battery feed.
- instrument cluster module.
- RCM is faulted.
